Online Meetup on EU Digital Identity Wallets

During our online meetups, Community User Needs First members exchange ideas and knowledge on user-centric governmental services based on examples in practice. The goal is to inspire each other and learn from each other with presentations on cases from members. This meetup, we’ll zoom in on the EU Digital Identity Wallets. Are you joining March 5th?

Programme

“A digital ID and personal digital wallet for EU citizens, residents and businesses.” That’s the goal for the EDI Wallet, stated on the website from the European Commission. EU Digital Identity Wallets will allow citizens, residents and businesses to prove who they are, and safely store, share and sign important digital documents.

During the meetup, we’ll talk about what the EDI Wallet is, what users can do with it, what data they can store in it, and what services they can use it for. We’ll also discuss what service providers need to do to prepare for the EDI Wallet.

Since 2022, large-scale European pilots (LSPs) have been running with the EDI Wallet. Ard van der Heijden was Use Case Lead at LSP POTENTIAL (2022-2025) and is now the lead of two work packages (WPs) at LSP WE BUILD (2025-2027). He will provide an introduction to the EDI Wallet and the LSP.

Also joining us is Annet Steenbergen. She will share her insights on the user research that has been done for the EU Digital Wallet Consortium (EWC). This research was published in 2025. She’ll also highlight the outcomes of more recent research, published at the beginning of the year, which answered the question: What do Europeans want out of their EUDI Wallets

The online meetup will not be recorded.
