What you need to know when participating in a User Needs First (Gebruiker Centraal) event
User Needs First is a community of and for people. We all work towards improving government services and communication. We believe it’s important that everyone feels welcome and comfortable at our events. That’s why we’ve outlined a few important points.
Even though these may seem obvious, it’s useful to have them available for everyone as a reference. On this page, you’ll find everything you need to know when participating in an online (community) event or webinar, as well as what to expect when attending an in-person event.
When attending an online (community) event of webinar
Important to know:
We ask that you do not record the event
This is primarily for the privacy of other participants. After the event, we will do our best to provide useful reference material, such as written summaries or presentation slides. We almost always record webinars and publish them on our website.
Use the chat function respectfully and for relevant discussions
The chat is a great way to respond to presentations and interact with others, as well as ask questions. So, feel free to use it! However, offensive, provocative, or personal attacks are absolutely not acceptable.
Avoid commercial promotion
Our online events and webinars are open to everyone, including freelancers and those working for commercial organizations. But please refrain from promoting your business, services, or products to other participants during or after the event. Networking and discussing content is much more interesting!
When attending an in-person event
Important to know:
If you don’t notify us about not being able to join the event, we assume you will attend
For each event, we arrange the venue, food, and drinks based on the number of attendees. If you are unable to make it, please let us know. We can then offer your spot to someone else.
We capture moments from the event
Usually, this means photos, but sometimes we also create a video recap. These are published on our website. By attending an in-person event, we assume you’re okay with this. If you’d prefer not to appear in photos or videos, please inform us ahead of time, preferably before the event starts.
Respect people’s personal space and personality
Events are a great opportunity to network, and we encourage you to take advantage of that. However, be mindful of others’ physical space and personal boundaries. At User Needs First, there’s no room for offensive, intrusive, or inappropriate behavior.
Avoid commercial promotion
Our in-person events are open to everyone, including freelancers and those working for commercial organizations. Feel free to share your business card, but leave your company brochure, product catalog, or service flyer at home.
If you have any questions or comments about these guidelines, let us know! Send an email to info@gebruikercentraal.nl, and we’ll respond as soon as possible.
